This Week in Earlham Baseball
This week leads off with our first full week of classes starting today and spring practice begins tomorrow! Our staff and players are excited to get the season going but each know the amount of hard work it is going to take to get us back to the conference tournament. We are now only 33 days away from opening the season against the Wittenberg Tigers and we hope to see you out at Sadler Stadium for our opening four game series!
Walter Talcott was named as a preseason 2nd team All-American this weekend by D3 Baseball Podcast. Walt is looking to finish strong for his senior year which includes a career record of 17-5 with 4 saves, an ERA of 2.17, and 177 strikeouts to only 25 walks. Congrats to Walter on the preseason recognition!
ABC's of Earlham
This week's letter for the "ABC's of Earlham" is P for Phi Beta Kappa. Phi Beta Kappa is the oldest and most respected undergraduate honors organization in the United States. The Society has pursued its mission of fostering and recognizing excellence in the liberal arts and sciences since 1776. Earlham is among 10 percent of four-year colleges and universities nationwide, and one of only three liberal arts colleges in Indiana, that have a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. When Earlham received its chapter in 1964, faculty considered this endorsement "a symbol of intellectual excellence" which solidified Earlham's nationwide academic reputation. Approximately 30 students are elected to Earlham's Phi Beta Kappa Chapter each year and the Earlham faculty includes 28 Phi Beta Kappa members.
