This Week in Earlham Baseball

Classes started this past Wednesday here at Earlham and all are excited to get back into the swing of things on campus and get going with another year of Quaker Baseball! Earlham baseball is trying to build off of another successful season in which the Quakers went 23-14 and started the season off with a 12 game winning streak! Coach Steve Sakosits, starting his 9th year as Head Coach of the Quakers, is excited to get back to work this Fall and truly feels they will be able to compete for another HCAC Championship.

Earlham had four players that were recognized by the HCAC last season as all-conference selections, and have added eighteen newcomers to the program. The Quakers will graduate two seniors this year, RHP Walter Talcott and OF Addison Robertson, both which have been contributors to Earlham's recent success and were All-HCAC honorees.

The Earlham College baseball team was one of 77 NCAA Division III teams recognized by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) on Wednesday with the Team Academic Excellence Award for the 2017-18 academic year.
Earlham Baseball posted a 3.16 GPA over the 2017-18 academic year, earning the accolade for the first time in program history.
"Words cannot express how proud I am of our players for our program to be recognized for its achievements in the classroom," said Steve Sakosits, Earlham's head baseball coach. "I want our kids to compete in everything they do – both in the classroom and on the field – and to embrace the idea that the pursuit of excellence requires an everyday commitment in all that they do."
The Quakers were one of three Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) programs to earn the ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award for 2017-18.
